Take the family on a weekend escape to the Del Norte Coast and make reservations at the Mill Creek Campgrounds, which are one of the few set in a forest of old growth redwood trees surrounded with lush ferns and moss. Do bring wind breakers and coats. While the sun comes out, it's still cool in fall and cold in winter.
