Want to get off the beaten path to Tahoe? A great diversion that has an almost Tahoe-like feel is Pass Creek Campground(s). We say campgrounds because several different campgrounds are part of Pass Creek. Pass Creek is part of the Jackson Meadow Reservoir area and offers the typical water recreation, including boating, fishing and swimming. It's about 15 miles off of Highway 89 going north and away from Truckee, CA. The campground sites cost about $19.99 per site and offer dry camping and vaulted toilets aka outhouses. Vaulted is a nice way of saying non-flushing. So for tent campers, expect few amenities. It does offer limited numbers of RV and trailer camp sites. Don't expect cell service. It's a true quiet escape.
